Q) Do you have a Day Rate?
A) Yes and No. For some projects, such as public relations work and corporate headshots, I have a standard Day Rate or Half-Day Rate. Most projects have to be handled on an individual basis, and I factor in the complexity of the job, travel, pre/post production and materials.
Q) What is usage? Once I hire you can't I use the images for anything I want forever?
A) Usage refers to the terms agreed upon by a client and photographer on how the images will be used. Unlimited Usage means a client has all usage rights but the photographer retains the copyright. Unlimited Usage can be very expensive and is generally not necessary. If my clients find that they need to expand usage rights after a contract is executed, I am flexible and work with my clients to meet their needs.
Q) Will I have the hassle of having to call you every time I need to use one of your photographs?
A) Absolutely not! My usage rights can be as creative as your project requires. If you are not sure what your future needs will be, we will create a basic usage package that covers most business needs.
Q) What is Third Party Usage?
A) Third party usage is when a company uses an image from a photographer it did not directly hire. A common example of this: if an interior designer hires a photographer to photograph the interior of a house, the designer cannot then give an architect the images for use without permission from the photographer.
Q) Who owns the actual images?
A) The photographer owns the copyright and can use the images in promotional materials as well as for resale.
Q) When is payment due?
A) Payment is due 30 days after delivery. Failure to pay within 30 days will require a 50% deposit on future assignments.
Q) Is commercial work the only photography you do?
A) No. I enjoy photographing weddings and portraits, and occasionally do this type of work on a case-by-case basis. Please call me to discuss your photography needs and scheduling and pricing information.
Q) Do you offer discounts?
A) Three or more consecutive shooting days will result in a discount on the third and final days of the project. Complete payment received in less than 10 business days will also result in a discount. Terms must be agreed upon before the start of any project.
Q) I have a project that needed to be done yesterday. Can you help me?
A) Possibly. Through the advent of digital photography I have been able to turn projects around on amazingly tight deadlines. Feel free to call and share your challenge with me, but please know that I will never sacrifice quality for speed. Honest and realistic project management is always of the utmost importance at DeAngelis Studio.
